DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Dayton police say they have detained an ex-convict accused of fatally shooting a 13-year-old girl and wounding another child over the weekend.

Police said 39-year-old Dameon Lareese Wesley was captured Monday night following a manhunt involving at least 30 officers. They say he likely caused a wreck between two SUVs before he was seen running from the scene.

The Dayton Daily News (http://bit.ly/Yx5BcJ ) reports that Wesley was involved with the mother of 13-year-old Briona Rodgers, who was killed Sunday. The coroner said she was shot in the head multiple times.

Briona's cousin, 13-year-old Alonta Culpepper, also was shot and was reported to be in critical condition.

Wesley was released from prison in September after serving 18 years for murder.
