ROANOKE, Va. (AP) — A New River Valley pain-management doctor has been convicted of illegally prescribing drugs.

Federal jurors in Roanoke found Dr. Linda Sue Cheek guilty on 172 counts Thursday. She was accused of prescribing the drugs from her Dublin practice without a valid DEA registration number and using one issued to another doctor.

The Virginia Board of Medicine had previously suspended the 63-year-old Cheek's medical license after she was convicted of Medicare and Medicaid fraud.

The Roanoke Times (http://bit.ly/XtDVGl) reports Cheek is scheduled to be sentenced in June.
