THOMSON, Ga. (AP) — An aviation official says a small jet with seven people aboard ran off the end of the runway at an eastern Georgia airport.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says the Hawker Beechcraft 390/Premier I crashed around 7:30 Wednesday at the Thomson-McDuffie County Airport. She says the jet went off the runway after it landed in Thomson, about 30 miles west of Augusta.

A sheriff's official who answered the phone says there could be at least one fatality. All calls to police, coroner and fire officials are being referred to the airport.

The cause of the accident is unclear and Bergen says the plane is registered to a company based in Wilmington, Del.
