MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Office workers beware.
A Kansas State University researcher is adding to a growing body of research showing the health risks of spending a lot of time on your duff.
Assistant professor of human nutrition Richard Rosenkranz and other collaborators on a new study examined the associations of sitting time and chronic diseases among more than 63,000 middle-aged Australian men.
The researchers found that people who sat for man than four hours a day were significantly more likely to report having a chronic disease, such as cancer or diabetes, than those who sat less than four hours daily. And those who sat more than six hours were significantly more likely to report having diabetes.
The findings were published in the International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity.
