PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP) — Facing a lonely weekend in the White House without his family, President Barack Obama arranged a golf outing with some of his buddies.

In Florida.

After a speech Friday in Chicago, Obama flew to West Palm Beach, then was then driven nearly an hour to Palm City and into the gated Floridian Yacht and Golf Club. The exclusive resort will be Obama's home away from home until he returns to Washington on Monday.

Eyebrows might have been raised at the thought of Obama high-tailing it out of Washington, without his family, for some "me time." His wife and daughters are on an annual ski trip out West.

But as history shows, a president vacationing alone isn't that uncommon.

Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry Truman regularly vacationed alone. So has Obama.
