NEW YORK (AP) — Authorities say a hidden camera caught a nurse's aide abusing an elderly patient suffering from Alzheimer's disease in the Bronx.

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says 55-year-old Sandra Kerr was charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a physically disabled person.

Kerr worked at Gold Crest Care Center in the Bronx. Authorities say the victim's granddaughter placed a camera in her room after growing concerned about her grandmother's care.

The camera showed Kerr snapping the resident's arm back and pushing her into the bed railing. The camera also caught Kerr striking the resident twice on her side.

Kerr was also charged with violating public health law. She faces one year in jail if convicted.

No information on a defense attorney was available.
