BIG RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — An 18-year-old Ferris State University student is in critical condition after spending several hours in a snow bank following a party.

WOOD TV reports that emergency medical services workers in Big Rapids were responding to a report of a deceased person when they found Nicholas Suttles about 8 a.m. Friday with an irregular heartbeat and suffering from hypothermia.

He was flown to a Grand Rapids hospital for treatment.

Authorities believe Suttles may have been spent about five hours in the snow. He was not wearing a coat. They say it appears he took his own alcohol to the party and drank a large amount.

WWTV-WWUP report that police are reviewing surveillance video from businesses in the area to see how he ended up in the snow bank.
