Ryan: Obama always in campaign mode, works against cooperation

Wednesday February 13, 2013 11:45 AM

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Republican congressman who was his party's vice presidential nominee last year says President Barack Obama's leadership style is standing in the way of bipartisan efforts to resolve problems like the deficit.

Paul Ryan, who chairs the House budget Committee, says Obama "seems to always be in campaign mode" -- treating Republicans "as enemies rather than partners."

The Wisconsin lawmaker, interviewed this morning on CBS, was asked if he supports House Speaker John Boehner's (BAY'-nurz) statement yesterday that he doesn't think Obama "has the guts" to stand up to liberals in his own party on spending cuts.

Ryan said of Boehner, "That's why the congressman makes remarks like that."
