DARLINGTON, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say two people were flown to a hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation following a fire in a western Pennsylvania home.
Beaver County officials say the blaze in the Darlington Township home was reported at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Firefighters told the Beaver County Times (http://bit.ly/YViOyx ) that an elderly woman was able to get to safety.
Assistant Fire Chief Chad Crawford said a police officer found a man just inside the front door, but was unable to move him to safety. Six emergency responders were later able to lift him onto a stretcher and get him outside, and both victims were flown to a Pittsburgh hospital.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Crawford said it started on the first floor and spread to the second floor.
