BATAVIA, Ohio (AP) — Ohio's governor and other officials are welcoming a food packaging and tableware company to a planned new site that will bring jobs to southwest Ohio.
Gov. John Kasich (KAY'-sik) will greet executives of Huhtamaki (HOO'-tuh-mah-kee) in Batavia around noon Tuesday. The company whose parent is based in Finland says it plans to invest at least $60 million in the site over the next three years and to create 237 jobs.
The company plans to make paper drink cups and distribute a range of products from a new converting facility and distribution center. It's at the site of a former Ford Motor Co. transmission plant, which also includes a University of Cincinnati campus.
Ohio, Clermont County and other local officials have worked with the company on the site and tax incentives.
