BATH, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire's longtime Executive Councilor Ray Burton is home from the hospital after becoming dehydrated while undergoing treatment for kidney cancer.
The 73-year-old Burton was released Monday night. He issued a statement Tuesday thanking supporters for their good wishes and assuring them the cancer is curable. He said treatments will last 2 to 3 months.
Burton said he will temporarily reduce his travel and meeting schedule through his North Country district while undergoing treatment.
He said he will instead help people in his district from his home in Bath. He plans to use hook up electronically to participate in council meetings and hearings in Concord.
Burton was elected to his first term in 1977. After a two-year absence, he was re-elected in 1981 and has been serving District 1 since.
