ELKHART, Ind. (AP) — A northern Indiana hospital is planning a $74 million expansion that will add new high-tech operating rooms and private rooms for patients.

Elkhart General Hospital officials say work on the 150,000-square-foot expansion is expected to begin this fall and be completed by late 2015.

The Elkhart Truth reports (http://bit.ly/Vd1JAx ) the project will replace the hospital's surgical and endoscopy suites and add 44 new private patient rooms for post-surgery care.

The expansion also will include space for 10 state-of-the-art operating rooms for inpatient and outpatient surgeries.
