Ohio governor offers tickets to speech in lottery

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohioans interested in seeing the governor's State of the State speech next week can try for a limited number of tickets through an online lottery.

Gov. John Kasich (KAY'-sik) said Monday that potential attendees to his Feb. 19 speech in Lima (LY'-muh) can register for the lottery until 6 p.m. Thursday. The winners will be notified by noon Friday.

Kasich again plans to deliver the annual policy address outside the Statehouse. He took last year's speech to an elementary school in Steubenville in eastern Ohio.

The Republican governor says the idea is to make government more accessible to the people. Critics say he's breaking a historical tradition of having it in the Capitol and adding cost and inconvenience to the speech that's delivered to the Legislature.
