BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A southwestern Idaho man who is HIV positive and who police say had unprotected sex with a woman has been taken into custody.

The Idaho Statesman reports (http://bit.ly/UPRhkO) that 38-year-old Richard Charles Deaver faces a felony charge of transfer of the body fluid which may contain the HIV virus.

Police say Deaver was taken into custody Thursday during a traffic stop. He was taken to the Ada County Jail.

Authorities say a woman contacted police in Meridian in May and told them she had sex with Deaver between January and March of 2012. She says she asked Deaver if he had any sexually transmitted diseases and he said he didn't.

An arrest warrant was issued July 20, but by then Deaver had moved out of Meridian.
