ALBANY, Ga. (AP) — President Barack Obama is awarding an Albany woman a 2012 Presidential Citizens Medal for her work in addressing obesity in children.

The Albany Herald (http://bit.ly/14I1LmR ) reports Pamela Green-Jackson will join other award recipients at the White House on Feb. 15.

Green-Jackson is the founder and CEO of the Youth Becoming Healthy Project, which is a nonprofit aimed at reducing childhood obesity through physical activities, fitness education and nutrition.

Green-Jackson has worked with food service managers to advocate for healthier breakfast and lunch menus, and to change contents of school vending machines.
