NEW YORK (AP) — Gloria Estefan and her husband Emilio Estefan are hoping to develop a stage musical about their lives.

The duo on Tuesday announced that they've also teamed up with the Nederlander Organization to try to take the show to Broadway.

Says Jimmy Nederlander, president of the Nederlander Organization: "The Estefans' journey of success, led by raw talent and passion, is captivating as it drove them from relative obscurity to global sensations."

Gloria Estefan has won seven Grammy Awards and had such hits as "Conga," The Rhythm is Going To Get You" and "1, 2, 3." She also recorded the Oscar-nominated song "Music Of My Heart."

Her husband is a music, TV and film producer who has helped direct the careers of Shakira, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony and Jon Secada.
