CECIL, Ohio (AP) — Authorities in northwest Ohio say as many as 10 tractor-trailers are involved in a pileup on a foggy highway that has left one person dead near the Indiana-Ohio state line.
A dispatcher at the State Highway Patrol says an unknown number of cars also were involved in the pileup on U.S. 24 Tuesday morning around 8 a.m.
The highway that links Toledo with Fort Wayne, Ind., has been shut down in both directions.
Authorities say a tanker truck caught up in the crash is leaking ethanol along the highway. The patrol says the tanker was one at least eight trucks involved.
A driver who was uninjured tells The Crescent-News in nearby Defiance that he "drove into a wall of fog."
