EPHRATA, Wash. (AP) — Grant County Prosecutor Angus Lee wants the Legislature to change the law that allows gun rights to be restored to the mentally ill who have been involuntarily committed.

Lee says current law makes it too easy for those with serious mental health problems to obtain guns after their release from court- ordered confinement.

KPQ reports (http://bit.ly/VMzSGt ) Lee wants a 12-month waiting period and a change in the standards used to measure risk to the public.

Lee has outlined his recommendations in a letter to state representatives.
