cancer patient's truck 'stolen,' fixed, returned

PINEVILLE, La. (AP) — Anthony Lester has been too weak from cancer to work on 1986 Chevy Silverado he had bought to restore, but it still hurt when it was taken from his driveway.

The Town Talk (http://townta.lk/Wo6oAs ) reports that friends had taken the truck to fix it up, with help from his wife, who told their insurance company. The conspirators also told police what they were doing.

Lester found out Saturday, when his wife convinced him to go to his repair shop, telling him they should look for a replacement. Then the truck drove up, repainted to match Lester's new Dodge Challenger.

William "T-John" Hall, an employee at Advanced Collision Repair, got friends, family and businesses to help. The truck got about $18,000 in time, labor and parts.

Lester was amazed and happy.
