NY's Bloomberg: I didn't make risqué bottom remark

Thursday January 31, 2013 7:00 PM

NEW YORK (AP) — New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg isn't amused by reporters' efforts to get to the bottom of a report that he made a crass remark about a woman's posterior at a holiday party.

The mayor tersely said Thursday he never made the comment described in a New York magazine article last week. The writer says he was introduced to Bloomberg at a recent party, and the mayor abruptly blurted out a vulgarity about a nearby woman's backside.

The magazine says it stands by writer Jonathan Van Meter's reporting.

Asked about the reported comment Thursday, the 70-year-old Bloomberg said he "never said it" and doesn't "know where it came from."

He called it an "outrage" when a reporter framed the alleged remark as part of a pattern of sexist comments.
