OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — State health officials say three more people have died in Oklahoma from the flu, bringing this season's total to 17.
The Oklahoma State Department of Health says the new deaths were reported in Oklahoma, Stephens and Tulsa counties. The state also recorded 78 new flu-related hospitalizations in the past week, bringing the season total to 722.
Tulsa County has reported the highest number of deaths this season, at four. Comanche County has reported three deaths, while Oklahoma and Pittsburg counties each reported two deaths. Cleveland, Creek, Mayes, Muskogee, Rogers and Stephens counties each have one death this season.
The health department says those 65 and older have been hit hardest by the flu. Twelve of the state's 17 deaths happened to people older than 65.
