SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — San Francisco police have searched a home in San Francisco in connection with the disappearance of a 10-year-old boy nearly 30 years ago.

A law enforcement official tells The Associated Press that investigators were digging in the backyard and the basement of the home near the city's Haight-Ashbury district Tuesday. They were looking for evidence in the 1984 disappearance of Kevin Collins.

The official spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the search warrant in the case was sealed.

The official says the home was the home of a person who was once a "person of interest" in the case.

Collins was last seen leaving basketball practice at St. Agnes School.
