MUSTANG, Nev. (AP) — Two Nevada state troopers have been put on paid administrative leave while sheriff's deputies investigate the carjacking of a patrolman's cruiser that ended with an apparent suicide.

Washoe County deputies are trying to determine how a man was able to steal the patrol car before carjacking another vehicle on Interstate 80 then shoot himself dead with the trooper's shotgun about 30 miles east of Reno

The bizarre chain of events began Monday afternoon when a trooper pulled over a 2013 Ford Explorer on I-80 near Mustang.

The sheriff's office confirmed late Tuesday that two troopers are on leave but declined to explain their role or say whether either fired a weapon. Neither was hurt.

Deputy Armando Avina says they'll have no more comment until the investigation is complete.
