PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Two Providence neighborhoods have been picked to participate in a pilot initiative that promotes children's health and well-being.

South Providence/Elmwood and the West End will be the first two neighborhoods to participate in the Evidence2Success initiative. Evidence2Success aims to improve young people's well-being in the areas of behavior, education, emotional and physical health, and positive relationships.

Each community with put together a group of leaders that will work with the Providence Children and Youth Cabinet to help select and implement youth programs in those areas.

Providence was the first city to collaborate with the Annie E. Casey Foundation on Evidence2Success.

City officials say a third community, Hartford/Olneyville, will join the initiative after its pilot phase.
