CINCINNATI (AP) — A judge has delayed ruling on a lawsuit challenging a southwest Ohio village's use of traffic speed cameras until next month.
A court official says the judge completed hearing testimony from both sides on Thursday and expects to issue a ruling by the end of February.
The lawsuit on behalf of business owners and ticketed drivers claims constitutional violations in Elmwood Place's use of the cameras.
The village has been issuing citations at a rapid pace since September when it installed cameras that record vehicle speed. The village just north of Cincinnati has seen a reported $1.5 million in fines overall so far.
Village officials say the cameras have made the village safer by reducing speeding. Thousands of motorists cut through the village every day to get to Interstate 75.
