NJ announces sites for 2014 Super Bowl events

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Events surrounding next year's Super Bowl will be spread out across northern New Jersey.

Gov. Chris Christie and the NFL announced venues for several events on Thursday.

Media day, the first official public event of Super Bowl week, will be held at Newark's Prudential Center, home of the NHL's New Jersey Devils

It marks the first time a Super Bowl media day will be held outside of the game site.

Both teams will be based in New Jersey and practice at facilities used by the New York Giants and New York Jets.

In addition, the NFL's tailgate party on Super Bowl Sunday will be held in the Meadowlands Racetrack grandstand, adjacent to MetLife Stadium.

The 2014 Super Bowl will be the first held outdoors in a cold-weather locale.
