LOVELAND, Colo. (AP) — Loveland police are investigating after a student was accused of bringing medical marijuana-laced food to school and sharing it with other students.

Chief Luke Hecker told the city council on Tuesday that the case is under investigation and he declined to name the school involved.

According to the Loveland Reporter-Herald (http://tinyurl.com/bzvu6ml ), Hecker urged councilors to prohibit the retail sale of marijuana, which under a new state law is left to the discretion of local communities.

The city currently has a ban of medical marijuana businesses that was put in place by the voters, and Hecker believes that should stay in place.
