BOSTON (AP) — Bankruptcy records show that the owners of the Massachusetts pharmacy linked to a nationwide fungal meningitis outbreak that has killed dozens of people pulled millions of dollars out of the company in the last year.
Records show the four family members who co-founded the New England Compounding Center in Framingham received more than $16 million in wages and profits from December 2011 through November.
The filings also show the family members racked up $90,000 on corporate credit cards, including charges made after the company shut down in October. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last month
A lawyer for the company's creditors tells The Boston Globe (http://b.globe.com/WcTFQA ) the situation is "tremendously unusual."
A hearing has been scheduled Thursday on a request for an independent trustee to oversee bankruptcy proceedings.
