WASHINGTON (AP) — On the inaugural platform for the second time, 14-year-old Malia Obama and 11-year-old Sasha looked more mature than four years ago, but still seemed unaffected by their global TV audience.

Meanwhile, fashion-watchers were tweeting about the girls' coats in vibrant shades of purple and first lady Michelle Obama's high-heeled boots.

Such attention to the Obamas' clothes, their Hawaiian vacations and their hair is bound to continue as they charge into a time of turbulence for so many American families: the teen years.

In the second term, Sasha, who arrived in the White House as a second-grader, moves on to high school. Malia will be reaching the ages when typical teens start driving, dating and applying to colleges. How normally can all that go under the spotlight at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.?
