COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Four candidates have been recommended to Ohio Gov. John Kasich (KAY'-sik) to fill an opening on the state's utility regulation board.

A Public Utilities Commission of Ohio nominating council met Thursday and selected the finalists from 26 applicants.

They are: Beth Trombold, a former PUCO staffer now at the Ohio Development Services Agency; Andrew Bergman, Ohio Environmental Protection Agency supervising attorney for air pollution control programs; G. Raymond Lorello, a previous nominee who manages utility relocation for the Ohio Department of Transportation; and Dan Shields, the PUCO's energy liaison to the federal government.

Shields is on PUCO Chairman Todd Snitchler's (SNIHCH'-lur's) leadership team.

Kasich has 30 days to select a nominee or request a new list of names. State senators must confirm his pick.
