WEST CHESTER, Ohio (AP) — Police say the driver of a stolen vehicle led officers on a chase at speeds topping 100 mph before crashing into a State Highway Patrol vehicle in southwest Ohio.
Authorities say the pursuit began Tuesday night after an officer spotted the stolen vehicle in West Chester, about 15 miles north of Cincinnati. The officer followed the vehicle north to Monroe, and the driver fled when the officer tried to pull him over. West Chester police say the vehicle eventually crashed and flipped as the driver tried to avoid so-called stop sticks set up by the patrol.
Police say the 21-year-old Dayton man was taken to a hospital. They didn't explain the extent of his injuries.
He was alone in the stolen vehicle and was expected to face criminal charges.
