TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — A 66-year-old man charged in the mutilation death of an Ohio woman has previously served time in prison for a woman's stabbing death almost 40 years ago.
The Blade newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/TXA9qq ) James Millard Day Sr. of Toledo was convicted in 1974 of fatally stabbing a woman 23 times.
He is being held on a $1 million bond after police in Toledo found a woman's naked, mutilated body in her apartment. Day was arraigned Monday on a murder charge. He does not yet have an attorney.
An autopsy performed Monday found that 49-year-old Joan Annette Watson died of a slice wound to the left side of her neck, and she had multiple stab wounds.
Police say in court documents that Day had been in Watson's apartment drinking and using drugs.
