Rabid raccoon found in Danville

DANVILLE, Va. (AP) — The Virginia Department of Health is urging residents of a Danville neighborhood to get their pets vaccinated after a raccoon tested positive for rabies.

WDBJ-TV (http://bit.ly/UjW7ml ) reports that the raccoon was recently found on Westover Drive.

The health department says the raccoon could have come in contact with dogs, cats or other animals in the neighborhood.
