2 killed in fatal Akron fire

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Police say that two people have died in a northeast Ohio house fire overnight.

Akron police tell WEWS-TV (http://bit.ly/VMtJLc ) that the fire started about 2:30 a.m. Thursday at a home on the north side of the city.

The victims are believed to be a mother and daughter.

Police said the fire started in the basement or first floor, and the victims were found on the second floor. Fire officials said there were no smoke detectors in the house, which was a total loss.

No other details were available.
