CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A research group is giving New Hampshire high marks on programs to prevent tooth decay in children.

The Pew Center released a report saying most states are not doing enough to prevent decay in kids. New Hampshire, by contrast, was among five states that received an "A'' and was one of only two states, including Maine, to receive perfect marks.

The report, "Falling Short: Most States Lag on Dental Sealants," graded all states and the District of Columbia on their efforts to prevent decay by improving access to sealants for low-income children.

More than 20 states and the District of Columbia received a D or failing grade.

The report shows that New Hampshire has sealant programs in more than 75 percent of the state's high-need schools.
