Police in upstate New York face a daunting task in finding owners for jewelry and other valuables discovered stuffed into 31 duffel bags.

Few clues point to the owners of the roughly 30,000 items discovered after 39-year-old John Suddard's recent arrest. So police in the village of Hudson Falls near the Vermont border are taking the novel step of displaying the items at the local high school Wednesday night.

Burglary victims will be invited in where an officer will escort them around the tables set up in the cafeteria to see if any of the items are theirs.

Police say they have been inundated with calls from potential victims and plan to do at least one more display after Wednesday.
