PHILADELPHIA (AP) — There's excitement brewing for fans of the original "Star Wars" trilogy.

Writer Brian Wood, artist Carlos D'Anda and Dark Horse Comics started a new monthly series Wednesday that details new adventures of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and others, as they seek to establish a foothold for the rebellion in the aftermath of the first Death Star's destruction.

Wood aims to bridge the events of "A New Hope" and "The Empire Strikes Back."

He says the series opens with a story set almost immediately after the destruction of the Death Star. The characters, including Darth Vader, find themselves reeling and in disarray, enveloped by fears and worries over the future.
