BLUE ASH, Ohio (AP) — Officials in the Cincinnati suburb of Blue Ash are apologizing after a loud daytime fireworks display caused panic among some residents who didn't know what was happening.
WCPO-TV (http://bit.ly/11cSKDb ) reports that the private fireworks display at an event center were put on for employees of a local company to celebrate their 2012 accomplishments.
But because of the cold air and other factors, they were louder than anticipated. That led to frantic calls from residents and businesses wondering if they were hearing gunfire or explosions.
Some residents called it foolish considering the recent rash of mass shootings.
Blue Ash city officials issued a written apology Tuesday afternoon, saying it "will reconsider similar requests in the future."
