TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Ohio's psychiatric hospital in Toledo is marking 125 years of mental health treatment.

The Northwest Ohio Psychiatric Hospital is one of six regional psychiatric hospitals operated by the state. It serves 23 counties in the northern part of the state.

Staff and community members are marking the occasion on Monday.

The hospital was known as the Toledo Asylum for the Insane when it opened in 1888.

It became the Toledo State Hospital six years later.
