AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Police say a 24-year-old man is being held in a weekend shooting in northeast Ohio that left a 16-year-old girl dead and a 19-year-old woman shot in the head.

Officers say they arrested 24-year-old David Stoddard at a motel Sunday morning, shortly after the shooting at a home in Akron. Police say Stoddard knew the teens, but no motive for the shooting has been established.

The Akron Beacon Journal (http://bit.ly/VMVS1Q ) reports that police were called to the home at about 4 a.m. Sunday. Other people in the home identified Stoddard at the shooter.

The wounded woman was hospitalized but details of her condition weren't available.

The victims' names haven't been released. Jail records didn't say whether Stoddard had an attorney yet.

It was the first homicide of the year in Akron.
