BENTONVILLE, Ark. (AP) — A prosecutor has filed formal charges against a northwest Arkansas man accused of raping and killing a 6-year-old girl who lived next door.

Prosecutor Van Stone filed paperwork Wednesday charging 28-year-old Zachary Holly with capital murder, kidnapping, rape and residential burglary in the disappearance and death of 6-year-old Jersey Bridgeman.

Authorities arrested Holly several days after Jersey was found dead Nov. 20 in a vacant home next to Holly's.

Holly is being held without bond at the Benton County Jail. He's due in court Monday for his arraignment.

A lawyer representing Holly didn't immediately respond to an email seeking comment Thursday.

Authorities say Jersey's death came about a year after her father admitted to chaining her to a dresser elsewhere in northwest Arkansas.
