BRENTWOOD, N.H. (AP) — A former nurse in New Hampshire is serving jail time after being convicted of taking an elderly patient's morphine for her own use.
Former licensed practical nurse Nina Perez of Portsmouth was sentenced Wednesday to serve six months for felony drug possession and abuse of a facility patient — a misdemeanor.
New Hampshire Attorney General Michael Delaney says Perez's nursing license has been revoked and she will be added to a federal database of individuals who are excluded from practicing in a health care facility for five years.
Delaney said Perez took morphine prescribed for a patient at the Edgewood Center nursing home in Portsmouth last May.
The court suspended an additional sentence of two-to-five years conditioned on good behavior by Perez.
