CINCINNATI (AP) — Authorities say two people rescued from a New Year's Day house fire in southwest Ohio remain hospitalized in critical condition.

Cincinnati firefighters said the two people were the most seriously hurt of the seven occupants of a house that burned early Tuesday near the University of Cincinnati campus. Four people had to be rescued from the third floor of the house.

The fire is believed to have started on the second floor. The names of the injured people were not released.

Neighbors said UC students lived in the house.
