KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Programs offered by the Cerebral Palsy Center in Knoxville are in jeopardy due to state funding cuts topped off by a shortfall in donations and local funding.
Leaders at the center have taken to publicly appealing for contributions to the 58-year-old center that offers services such as job development to more than 300 people affected by the conditions.
Executive director Bob Sexton told the Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/VltbIS) that he has already cut administrative spending. In addition, he has reached out to local business leaders who helped him arrange for a $40,000 loan to help the center operate while contributions are raised.
Sexton says around $300,000 is needed to make sure the center is financially stable.
