MILWAUKEE (AP) — Investigators say an Iraq War veteran accused of killing his wife while she worked as a Milwaukee-area police officer has told them he shot her in the head repeatedly so she wouldn't suffer before she died.

Thirty-year-old Benjamin G. Sebena was charged Thursday with first-degree intentional homicide in the Christmas Eve death of his wife, Jennifer Sebena. She was also 30.

Prosecutors say Jennifer Sebena told a colleague earlier this month her husband had acted violently toward her and put a gun to her head.

After the killing, police searched the Sebenas' home. They found a gun that fires bullets with casings that match those found at the scene, and they also found Jennifer Sebena's service weapon.

A message left with Ben Sebena's defense attorney was not immediately returned.
