ATLANTA (AP) — The Georgia Department of Human Services has announced it will award grants to some of the state's Aging and Disability Resource Connection centers to provide counseling to families looking for long-term care facilities.
Department of Human Service officials Wednesday said $150,000 will be split among Mercy Senior Care, in Rome, Mayo Clinic Health System, in Waycross and the Medical Center of Central Georgia, in Macon.
Among other things, officials say the grants will help facilitate counseling sessions aimed at weighing consumer preferences, comparing service options and conducting follow-up sessions with consumers.
Department of Human Services officials say in the past year, options counselors have visited nearly 2,000 patients to provide options counseling. There are 12 Aging and Disability Resource Connection centers in the state.
