PITTSBURGH (AP) — Winter's arrival has brought snow to many spots across the country.

Weather officials say a winter storm dumped more than eight inches of snow in western Pennsylvania. The National Weather Service says a winter storm warning for parts of western Pennsylvania remains in effect until 7 p.m. Eastern. Forecasters are also warning of strong winds.

On the West Coast, the snow has been wet and heavy. Falling trees knocked out power to nearly 13,000 customers in two southwest Oregon counties, though Pacific Power says it expects to have service restored to most of those affected by tonight.

The snow also caused officials to has closed sections of Interstate 5 in Oregon and Northern California for periods, though the freeway has since reopened. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the region, saying that an additional two to four inches of snow is expected to fall through the day and gusting winds are like to reduce visibility.
