CLEVELAND (AP) — A Cleveland Clinic emergency room nurse has pleaded not guilty in an alleged $10,000 murder-for-hire plot that unsuccessfully targeted a woman in a home ownership dispute.
Twenty-three-year-old Andrew Martin of Bristolville near Warren was arraigned Monday before Cleveland federal Judge Christopher Boyko (BOY'-koh). The judge ordered Martin locked up to await trial Feb. 7.
Authorities say a man who had been treated in the ER tipped off police that he had been asked by a nurse if he "ever killed anyone."
The clinic suspended Martin without pay when he was arrested last month.
One of his defense attorneys, Christopher Thomarios, declined comment after the arraignment.
