COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The top official of the Moose International fraternal organization has been accused of sexually molesting a boy in Ohio and Louisiana decades ago.

A lawsuit by South Carolina resident Jason Peck accuses William Airey (EHR'-ee) of the abuse around 1980 beginning when Peck was 12 and Airey was a member of a lodge in the Columbus, Ohio, area.

The lawsuit was filed Thursday. It seeks financial damages. It says Airey abused Peck at Moose lodge-related functions in the Columbus area and elsewhere, including New Orleans.

Moose International says Airey is traveling and unavailable for comment. It says he won't have contact with children at a Moose International school in suburban Chicago until further notice.

The Associated Press generally doesn't identify people who claim to be victims of sexual abuse unless they go public, as Peck has done.
