VA breaks ground for $10 million research facility

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — The Department of Veterans Affairs is scheduled to break ground for a $10 million expansion of its mental health research building at the Ralph Johnson VA Center in Charleston.

Ceremonies are set for Thursday.

The expanded center will conduct research into Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, substance abuse, general mental health for veterans and homelessness among veterans.

The expansion will include 16,000 additional feet of research space.
